Rose has become the first Blackpink member to officially confirm her attendance at the K-pop group’s 10th anniversary meet-and-greet, which will be held on Saturday (Aug 8). The meet-and-greet event previously sparked backlash from Blinks, fans of Blackpink, after it was revealed that it would be limited to 40 participants and that it would be “attended by select Blackpink members, depending on their schedules”.

Some fans directed their anger towards the quartet, which also comprises Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa, as well as Blackpink’s agency, YG Entertainment, for what they perceive to be a lack of activities to commemorate the milestone.

On Friday, Rose’s agency, The Black Label, confirmed her attendance at the event, clarifying that they “have ensured well in advance that all necessary arrangements were coordinated and secured so that [Rose] can share this meaningful moment with her fans”.

“Being present for this occasion has long been set as her top priority and prepared for accordingly,” wrote The Black Label.

The agency also urged everyone to “refrain from excessive speculation and criticism based on inaccurate information online”.

As of writing, Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa have yet to officially confirm their attendance at Saturday’s event.

However, several South Korean media outlets, citing a YG Entertainment spokesperson, have reported that all four Blackpink members will attend the meet-and-greet session.

The Black Label’s post on Friday comes hours after a woman was arrested for smashing the building doors of YG Entertainment with a golf club.

Videos taken at the scene were uploaded online, showing the woman also charging into the building and being chased by security guards. She was later apprehended by the police.

According to the police, as reported by South Korean media, the woman was in her 20s, and they are still investigating the circumstances and motive of her actions.
