Treasury yields were little changed early Friday as global investors await the highly anticipated keynote speech from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole.
The 10-year Treasury note was less than 1 basis point higher, at 4.676%, at 4 a.m. ET. The 30-year Treasury bond yield was less than 1 basis point higher at 5.199%, while the yield on the 2-year Treasury note was flat at 4.229%.
One basis point equals 0.01%. Yields and prices move inversely.
Warsh’s remarks will be closely monitored for any indication of his views on how monetary policy should respond to persistently above-target inflation, or the impact of rising long-term borrowing costs.
The Fed chairman, who took office in May for a four-year term, has so far shared very little commentary on the state of the economy or policy outlook.
Some market watchers believe he will remain light on details about the path he expects ahead and focus on broad themes.
