The S & P 500 rose Thursday and Treasury yields pulled back, as investors grew more optimistic that the Federal Reserve might leave interest rates unchanged this month. The Fed is scheduled to issue its next rate decision on Sept. 16. The optimism followed comments from Fed Governor Christopher Waller, who said Thursday that he’d lean toward holding rates steady barring no surprises from upcoming inflation data. According to the CME Fed Watch tool, the odds rates of a September hike fell to around 50%, down from a 63% Wednesday. Jim Cramer said Thursday’s market action clearly demonstrates the influence that bonds have on stocks, both good and bad. “When rates are steady, people come out and buy stocks,” he said. 2. Microsoft shares advanced more than 3% on Thursday, a day after the company announced Wednesday begin disclosing quarterly revenue for its Azure cloud business for the first time. Rival public cloud providers Amazon and Google had been doing this for many years. Microsoft’s change is part of a broader overhaul of Microsoft’s reporting structure, as the company downsizes its operating segments from three to two: 1) Agents and Infra, which includes Azure, Microsoft 365 and GitHub 2) Device and Consumer, which includes advertising, Xbox and Windows. Jim welcomed the increased transparency, especially after his recent change of heart about the hyperscaler after its last quarter’s report. “I’m not anti-Microsoft. That last quarter was good,” Jim said. However, “I was not happy with their [financial] disclosure. It’s getting better, and that’s very positive,” he added. 3. Broadcom shares tumbled over 4% despite delivering a third quarter beat Wednesday. While its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter revenue guide was below expectations, the company did raise its AI revenue outlook to $115 billion from $100 billion. Still, the “market has some reservations,” said portfolio director Jeff Marks. We’ve also grown more cautious on Broadcom. Last week, we halved the position to reduce exposure to the AI data center buildout as sentiments around those stocks soured. “The only regret I have is … I didn’t just get rid of it all,” said Jim. But, at this point, Jim said he’s willing to hold the remaining position because of Broadcom’s deeping relationship with AI startup Anthropic, which is set to go public this fall. In the immediate term, Jim warned the sell-off isn’t over. “This one’s not done going down,” he predicted.” How much more would it have to fall before Jim gets interested in repurchasing the shares we sold higher? “I would buy some Broadcom if it got to $310 [per share],” he said. 4. Stocks covered in Thursday’s rapid fire at the end of the video were: Snowflake , Campbell’s , Hewlett Packard Enterprise , Five Below , and Tyson Foods .
