Africa’s first Pan-African Architecture Biennale took place in Kenya‘s capital, Nairobi, bringing together architects, engineers and designers from across the continent.
The event highlights how traditional materials such as earth and timber, combined with modern design, could help address climate change and rapid urban growth.
Kenyan firms showcased sustainable building techniques, while experts stressed the need for affordable, durable and certified materials. Although concrete remains dominant, participants say African-led innovation could play a key role in shaping greener cities for the future.
