Germany weighs fuel relief as gasoline prices soar

The US war with Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have led to soaring fuel prices in Germany. The government is considering further relief.

Fuel prices are soaring in Germany as the conflict with Iran continues and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Gasoline has reached a new peak. Diesel is approaching a record high. After previously cutting fuel taxes for two months, Germany’s government is considering further support measures. Chancellor Friedrich Merz says a proposal will be presented soon.
