Yemen says it is launching an offensive to reclaim territory held by the Houthis. With the group making gains near a key Red Sea shipping route, concerns are growing that the conflict could spill beyond Yemen’s borders.

A day after the Houthis said they attacked Saudi oil facilities, there are fresh fears of a wider regional war. Yemen’s Saudi-backed, internationally recognized government has announced the launch of a major military campaign to recapture all areas currently controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis. DW speaks to Hannah Porter, a Yemen researcher at ARK Group, an organization that works on conflict and stability issues in Yemen and across the region.
