How Russia turned sanctions into a diesel deal

US President Donald Trump told supporters on Friday he had struck a deal to import hundreds-of-thousands of tons of Russian diesel into the US. It comes just three weeks after he signed legislation, allowing him to impose sweeping sanctions on other buyers of Russian energy.

The new agreement has angered Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy who said it was a gift to Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin’s war machine.
