Thousands of Moroccan migrants remain stranded in Ceuta after crossing into the Spanish enclave in search of a better life. Many have spent weeks living on the streets, where reports of sexual assaults and diseases such as scabies are increasing. Despite pressure from worried relatives and limited support, many refuse to return to Morocco.

Some migrants who have gone back allege mistreatment by Spanish security forces. Meanwhile, tighter border controls and additional Moroccan security deployments are making any new crossing attempts increasingly difficult.
