Student-led protests in Albania have turned increasingly violent, with clashes between demonstrators and riot police continuing for a seventh consecutive night in the capital, Tirana.

Many protesters, including high school and university students, are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, citing high living costs, corruption and limited opportunities.

Rama has rejected calls to step down but offered dialogue, a gesture that protesters largely dismissed.

The unrest has grown out of a broader anti-government movement that began over a controversial coastal development project, highlighting deep frustration with Albania’s political and economic direction.
