Bulgaria: Ukrainian refugee builds a new life with a taste of home

Lyudmyla Georgievska and her son were in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, when Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022. They fled to Bulgaria, intending to say just a few weeks.

When the weeks turned into months, Georgievska began thinking how she could support herself and her son. Her mother suggested that she bake for others.

The idea has turned out to be a great success. She now employs other Ukrainians and sells sweet treats based on a traditional family recipe.
