Ukrainian drones struck Russia’s Omsk refinery, the country’s largest, located in southwestern Siberia. It was one of Ukraine’s longest-range strikes since the beginning of the war.
Russiaconfirmed the attack. Vitaly Khotsenko, governor of the Omsk region, said Ukrainehad targeted the refinery and that Russian air defenses had destroyed most of the drones involved. No casualties were reported.
DW’s Anthony Howard spoke with Brian Whitmore, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, to discuss where the war is headed and whether any place in Russia is still safe from Ukrainian attacks.
