Firefighters battle major blaze south of Paris

A major wildfire is raging through the Fontainebleau forest south of Paris. More than 800 hectares of woodland have already been destroyed. French authorities suspect the blaze may have been deliberately started.

A major wildfire is raging through France‘s Fontainebleau Forest, one of the country’s most popular natural attractions. Hundreds of firefighters and aircraft are battling the blaze, which has already forced motorway closures ahead of Bastille Day celebrations. The crisis comes as France endures its third major heatwave of the year.
