Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, acknowledged mistakes in the vetting of the Jeffrey Epstein files released to the public, but defended his handling of the matter during his Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday.

Blanche became the acting attorney general in April 2026 after Pam Bondi was fired from the position.

The BBC’s Tom Bateman was at the confirmation hearing, where senators grilled Blanche about the Epstein files and his personal ties to Trump.
