A Russian court has found opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin guilty of displaying extremist symbols after he shared images of late opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
While the fine is largely symbolic, Nadezhdin said the case is part of broader efforts to stop him from running in upcoming State Duma election.
A rare critic of Russia’s war in Ukraine, he said authorities want to silence calls for peace and political change.
After being labeled a “foreign agent,” he now faces exclusion from the parliamentary raceand has also been barred from leaving Russia.
