Andy Burnham has become the UK’s new prime minister, promising sweeping political and economic reforms after years of instability that saw six leaders cycle through Downing Street. The former Greater Manchester mayor says he wants to give more power to local governments, tackle the cost-of-living crisis and expand subsidized housing. Burnham, who describes his approach as “business-friendly socialism,” is also launching a UK-wide listening tour as he seeks to rebuild public trust and deliver a different style of politics.
