Perez Hilton was taken to a Miami hospital after authorities responded to an apparent act of self-harm during a TikTok livestream.

Deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 48-year-old celebrity blogger’s home in Florida on Tuesday (Aug 4) after they received “multiple” calls from concerned fans about his behaviour during the distressing livestream, now removed from the platform.

At the scene, deputies spoke with family members and confirmed that the influencer was the only person inside the property at the time of the livestream.

In a statement, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said: “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication.

“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimise the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”

Deputies decided to “tactically disengage” while they continue to monitor developments.

Later, pictures emerged of an ambulance outside Perez’s home, and police confirmed that he “had been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention”.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals stayed at the scene, “providing support and resources to the individual’s family”.

No further update on Perez’s condition has been released.

His representatives, Golden Artists Entertainment Co-CEOs Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, released a statement to TMZ.

They said: “We are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton.

“At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further.

“We appreciate everyone’s concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time.”

Perez has had a turbulent year as he has experienced multiple health scares, including a 21-day hospital stay and a massive blood clot.

He previously explained that he was “praying to God daily” following his health scares.

Perez told the Daily Mail newspaper: “Some things should be kept private, and what happened with me and God was so real, so powerful, and so personal, that I want to keep it between me and God.

“What’s important to me is my personal relationship with God, and I am praying to God daily, several times a day, and crying, but all happy tears recently.”

The internet personality has a son and two daughters, all of whom he welcomed via a surrogate in 2013, 2015, and 2017, respectively.
