A powerful earthquake has struck Colombia, causing widespread damage and building collapses, particularly in the southwestern city of Cali, where authorities said multiple structures have fallen and people remain trapped.
Rescue teams have been mobilized as emergency operations continue.
President Abelardo de la Espriella has taken charge of the national response, while residents in Bogota reported prolonged shaking.
According to Colombia’s geological service, the quake was the strongest recorded in the country in the past decade and was felt as far away as Panama and Ecuador.
