The BBC has seen widespread devastation on the way from Nepal’s capital of Kathmandu to Trishuli, one of the areas worst-hit by flooding on the Tibetan border.

As well as ambulances, hearses were also seen along the route, where rescuers said entire villages had been washed away by floodwaters.
