US President Donald Trump has announced bans on key Canadian products in the latest trade war escalation between the neighbors.
The list of embargoed products includes alcohol, motorcycles and dairy products.
This comes a day after Canada slapped tariffs worth $20 billion on big US brands.
Speaking to DW, Jen Gerson, co-founder of the independent Canadian news site The Line, argued that years of trust between the the US and Canada have been damaged and could take a generation to rebuild.
“Canadians are overwhelmingly of the opinion that a lot of these trade irritants are excuses in order to bully, dominate and force us to submit to [Donald Trump’s] increasingly authoritarian expansionist fantasies,” she said.
