Russia continued on Saturday its constant strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, killing at least four people and wounding dozens more.
According to Ukrainian officials, two people were killed in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, while steelmaker ArcelorMittal reported that two more people were killed at its plant in Kryvyi Rih, a city in the center of the country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that a Russian strike on an apartment building in Odesa wounded 37 people and that rescue teams are searching for two missing individuals.
He added that ten regions came under Russian attack last night and that Russian attack drones are still flying over many of them.
Ukraine retaliates by hitting chemical plants
In response to Russian attacks, Kyiv is fighting back. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has attacked “chemical enterprises” in the Perm region of the Urals and in the Samara region, which is located southwestern Russia.
The General Staff in Kyiv also reported a fire at a rubber factory in Togliatti, located in the Samara region. According to their statement, the company specializes in producing synthetic rubber important for tactical and ballistic missiles.
Togliatti Mayor, Ilya Sukhih, said that one person was hospitalized following a massive attack on the city. He added that several multi-story residential buildings were damaged.
Kremlin rebuffs Zelenskyy’s meeting proposal
In an exclusive interview with DW, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is willing to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Group of 20 (G20) leaders’ summit in Miami in December.

However, on Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow has yet to decide whether Putin will travel to the summit. “We don’t know yet whether we’ll be going to Miami,” Peskov said, according to Russian media.
Commenting on Zelenskiy’s proposal, Peskov reiterated Moscow’s longstanding position that if the Ukrainian leader wants to meet with the Russian leader, he should come to Moscow.
