Greece is turning to advanced technology to tackle increasingly severe wildfires. After a major blaze on the island of Paros forced village evacuations in August, authorities highlighted new tools designed to detect fires earlier and improve response times. Satellites equipped with thermal imaging cameras can identify even small fires in remote areas and send real-time data to emergency teams.
More than 100 wildfire-monitoring drones are also in operation nationwide, while robot dogs are being tested to identify potential fire hazards. As climate change increases wildfire risk, Greece is expanding its efforts to prevent and contain destructive blazes.
