A student-led political movement is emerging as a serious challenger to Serbia‘s long-ruling SNS party ahead of parliamentary elections on October 25. Born out of mass protests following the deadly 2024 Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse that killed 16 people, the “Students Win” movement is campaigning on rule of law, transparency and anti-corruption.

Supporters are cycling across the country to reach voters directly, while critics accuse former President Aleksandar Vucic‘s political camp of undermining democratic institutions and media freedom. The election is shaping up as a key test for Serbia’s political future and EU aspirations.
