More than 3,000 shops across France were looted and vandalized during unrest that followed demonstrations involving students, unions and Yellow Vest supporters.

Business owners in Paris say organized groups exploited the protests to target tobacco shops, jewelry stores and other retailers, causing extensive damage and losses.

Many believe the raids were carefully planned in advance.

As another weekend of demonstrations approaches, shopkeepers are reinforcing their premises and fear a new wave of violence despite promises of increased police protection.
