Photography can do more than capture a moment. In Bamako, Mali, it’s becoming a powerful tool for environmental awareness. We join young photographer Aliou Coulibaly as he enters a massive garbage dump that has come to symbolize the city’s growing waste challenge, armed with his camera. His images are prompting residents and authorities to take a closer look at the impact of pollution and plastic waste. At the same time, a new generation of young photographers is learning to see their surroundings through a different lens, exploring issues such as climate change, littering and community responsibility. Can a single image inspire change? And can photography help protect the environment?
