Votes are still being counted after Israel’s crucial election. The campaign was framed as a choice between continuity and change, but neither side received a clear mandate to govern. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s right-wing bloc is projected to win the most seats, but not enough for a majority in the 120-seat parliament. The opposition bloc of challenger Gadi Eisenkot would have to rely on an alliance with Arab parties to form a government. With neither side gaining a majority, there could be weeks of coalition talks or even a new election.
