Ugandan singer‑songwriter Green Daddy is turning African music into a platform for climate action. Born in Nateete, a Kampala suburb scarred by illegal wetland construction, he watched his childhood neighborhood flood and vowed to protect the next generation. Three years ago, he opened a kindergarten where he teaches practical eco‑skills such as cleaning streets, draining stagnant water and planting trees to young children. With his trademark green hair and upbeat tracks about plastic waste and tree‑planting, Green Daddy is creating an “environmental army” of young learners who carry his message beyond the classroom. The initiative shows how music and grassroots education can spark sustainable change in Uganda.
