More than 50,000 people have fled from Ethiopia to Kenya after violence erupted in the divided border town of Moyale, triggering a rapidly growing humanitarian crisis.

The fighting, linked to a dispute over control of the area between Ethiopia’s Oromia and Somali regions, has forced families from their homes and disrupted a key trade route.

Aid agencies including the Kenya Red Cross and UNHCR are sheltering displaced people and providing emergency assistance, while reports of deaths and injuries from stray bullets have raised concerns on the Kenyan side of the border.

With thousands seeking refuge and regional resources under strain, officials are calling for urgent international support as fears mount that the violence could spread further.
