  • In the last week, odds the AI company would announce an IPO before December fell to 57% from nearly 90% on Kalshi.
  • Chances that the company would announce a public offering before January also dropped to 68% from over 88% in the last week.
  • The lower chances come after growing concerns from investors about a slowdown in data center construction after the Democrats secured a majority in the House and Senate on Tuesday night.

Odds that Anthropic will announce a public offering fell in recent days on Kalshi as AI-related stocks slid after Democrats won control of Congress and several key governorships.

In the last week, odds that Anthropic would announce an IPO before December fell to 57% from over 85% on Kalshi. Chances that the company would announce a public offering before January also dropped to 68% from 90% in the last week. The contract asks when Anthropic will officially announce an IPO and will be verified by news outlets.

The AI company confidentially filed its IPO prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission back in June.

The repricing on Kalshi came as investors grew concerned that Democratic victories across both chambers could slow data center construction, making the bet on AI less attractive.

Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa of Texas, a Democrat who ousted three-term Republican Greg Abbott, championed tighter protocols against data center buildout in her state during her campaign.

“We will have laws to protect Texans and we need to stop what we are doing with data centers until we have those protections,” the Democrat told CNN on Thursday.

The Nasdaq Composite closed Thursday more than 10% below its most recent high, crossing the benchmark for what Wall Street views as a correction. The S&P 500 lost 4.4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 1,800 points, or 3.4%. Stocks were attempting to rebound on Friday, with the Nasdaq gaining 1.3% and the S&P 500 rising 0.7%. The Dow shed 0.2%.

On Friday, shares of Micron Technology and Nvidia each gained about 4%, after falling 17% and 9%, respectively, the day before. CoreWeave shares also rose more than 2% Friday morning after tumbling about 10% on Wednesday. Even if Friday’s gains are sustained, these stocks have tallied steep losses over the past week.

Disclosure: CNBC and Kalshi have a commercial relationship that includes customer acquisition and a minority investment.
