According to Prague’s public transport operator (DPP), 72 pedestrians were hit by trams while crossing tracks in the city in 2025. Sixteen were seriously injured; two of them fatally.
Now Prague’s transport authorities have launched a new awareness-raising drive known as the “Three Seconds” campaign, which targets in particular young people who look at their phones and wear headphones while out and about. The goal is to reduce deaths on the city’s tram network to zero.
As part of the campaign, a black tram travels the city emblazoned with the campaign logo: “Look. Listen. Go.”
Tests have shown why taking three seconds to look and listen before crossing is so important: Even when traveling at just 25 kilometers per hhour (15 mph), a tram needs over six seconds to stop.
