The United States has carried out targeted strikes on Iranian military sites, including air defense systems, in retaliation for the downing of a US Apache helicopter.

President Donald Trump said the action aims to pressure Tehran in stalled negotiations, not trigger a wider war.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on US bases across the region, forcing airspace closures and causing damage in neighboring countries, raising fears of further escalation.
