In Mongbwalu, eastern DRC, the first survivors of the latest Ebola outbreak share their experiences as they work to raise awareness in a community where many still doubt the disease.

The first recoveries have been recorded at the epicenter of the 17th Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a community where some view Ebola as a myth, a 60-year-old pastor — the first survivor of this outbreak of the disease — is striving to help those around him to understand the danger it poses.

After him, three other patients left the Mongbwalu treatment center fully recovered. They are survivors who now carry a vital message: Ebola can be beaten.
