Will army tanks soon roll through Bolivia?

After more than six weeks of protests, Bolivia’s President Rodrigo Paz has declared a state of emergency. The measure gives him broader powers to restore order, including the option of sending in armed forces.

Bolivia’s President Rodrigo Paz has declared a state of emergency, after 50 days of protests and road blockades brought the economy to a halt.  While the order has gone into effect, the president must notify Congress of the state of emergency within 24 hours of issuing the decree. Congress then ‌has up to 72 hours to approve or reject the measure.
