Many people are unaware that an estimated 500,000 Roma and Sinti were murdered during the Nazi genocide. Now, young Romani activists are using AI to ensure their stories are not forgotten.
In the movie project “Unbroken,” actors perform the stories of Roma and Sinti persecuted in the Holocaust. These performances are then transformed into anime animation. The Roma-led NGO Romanity hopes the format will help younger audiences connect with this overlooked chapter of history.
The project also highlights the discrimination that many Roma and Sinti still face across Europe today. Can new technology help keep these memories alive and inspire a new generation to confront prejudice?
