Russia‘s latest jet-powered drones are forcing Ukraine to rethink its air defenses.

Flying at speeds of over 600 kmph (350 mph), the drones are harder to intercept and increasingly resemble low-cost cruise missiles.

Though Ukraine has improved its interception rate using fighter jets and advanced air-defense systems, observers warn that the cost of shooting down the drones can exceed their production price.

Ukraine’s military is now testing inexpensive interceptor drones as it looks for a more sustainable, cost-effective solution.
