Protests over India‘s voter roll revision intensified after police detained Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, leaders of the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party, at Delhi’s historic Jantar Mantar protest site.

Demonstrators renewed demands for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign, accusing him of overseeing a voter registration review they say lacks transparency and could disenfranchise eligible voters. The Election Commission denies wrongdoing, while opposition groups cite reports raising concerns about voter deletions. The dispute has become a flashpoint in a wider debate over voting rights, electoral integrity and public dissent in the world’s largest democracy.
