The Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank is facing a severe financial crisis after Israel withheld more than $5 billion in tax revenues it collects on its behalf. These funds account for about 70% of the PA’s income.
As a result, public sector workers are receiving partial salaries, while essential services like healthcare and education have been reduced.
Israel has cited security concerns its decision to deny the funds, while critics have warned of economic collapse affecting ordinary Palestinians.
