Jordan’s tourism industry is struggling as regional conflicts have sharply reduced visitor numbers to major religious and cultural sites — including Mount Nebo, Madaba and Petra.
The decline has caused significant losses for businesses, hotels, restaurants, tour guides and others who depend on visitors.
Once bustling with tourists and pilgrims, many of Jordan’s best-known sites now attract only a fraction of their former visitors.
As the government invests $120 million (€104 million) into strengthening Jordan’s position as a global pilgrimage destination, falling tourism revenue continues to threaten livelihoods across the sector.
