Rome wants more people to cycle, but fragmented bike lanes, blocked routes and heavy traffic still make everyday cycling difficult. Mobility manager Andrea Pasotto is pushing for flexible work hours, home office options and better cycling infrastructure, including a planned 50-kilometer bike ring, to reduce congestion and promote sustainable transport. Meanwhile, Florence is already rewarding cyclists with financial incentives, helping cut CO2 emissions and encouraging more residents to switch from cars to bikes.
