ZANDVOORT, Netherlands, Aug 21 : George Russell put Mercedes on pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix sprint race ahead of McLaren’s Formula One champion Lando Norris.

Russell produced a best lap of one minute 11.567 seconds to beat his fellow Briton by 0.041 of a second.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will line up third for Saturday’s race with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri fourth and championship leader Kimi Antonelli qualifying fifth for Mercedes.

Home hero Max Verstappen was sixth fastest for Red Bull and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton seventh.

The sprint winner takes eight points with the top eight scoring.
