Germany has seen two sabotage attempts on parts of its electricity grid within 24 hours — one in the eastern state of Brandenburg, near Berlin, the other in the city of Bergheim, west of Cologne.
One case has triggered a terror probe, while investigators are examining whether the incidents are connected and who may be responsible. The attacks came as Germany publicly blamed Russia for an earlier attempted drone attack on Leipzig Airport, though no link has been established.
The incidents have renewed concerns about the vulnerability of Germany’s critical infrastructure and the country’s preparedness to respond to sabotage and potential hybrid threats. DW speaks with correspondent Guilia Saudelli and disaster risk expert Alexander Fekete.
