The five new additions to the firm’s so-called “U.S. Conviction List — Director’s Cut” are Amazon , Burlington Stores , Huntington Ingalls , Johnson Controls and Occidental Petroleum . The investment bank removed Air Products and Chemicals , ConocoPhillips , Golar LNG , Loar Holdings and Tyson Foods from the list for this month. Here are the investment bank’s latest additions: Amazon.com Analyst Eric Sheridan said Amazon is at the crossroads of structural and cyclical growth with margin expansion to boot. The price target for Amazon is $375, implying more than 50% upside from Thursday’s close. AMZN YTD mountain Amazon stock price Sheridan focuses on three growth drivers: continued AI-related demand for AWS compute power, improving e-commerce profitability through operating leverage and cost optimization and further growth in advertising. Amazon has lagged the broader S & P 500 over the past year — up 13% versus the broad market index’s 15% advance in the period — but Sheridan sees the underperformance as an attractive entry point as the company stands to benefit from both structural and cyclical tech tailwinds. Huntington Ingalls Industries The price target for Huntington Ingalls is $439, implying 60% upside from Thursday’s close. HII YTD mountain Huntington Ingalls Industries The investment bank added Huntington Ingalls back to the list after taking it off in March, following a period of underperformance tied to margin disappointment. Shares are down 20% year to date. However, analyst Noah Poponak maintains that the company has a unique position in the U.S. defense sector: The company is a pure play on U.S. Navy shipbuilding as the Pentagon and US government continue to focus on the domestic shipbuilding base and growing the Navy’s fleet, according to the firm. Burlington Stores Burlington is another name on Goldman’s list. The price target for the company is $382, implying shares could rise nearly 40% from Thursday’s close. BURL YTD mountain Burlington Stores Shares have underperformed recently — off 13% in the past three months — on fears that warmer weather and higher oil prices could weigh down sales, the firm said. However, analyst Brooke Roach believes this pullback presents an attractive entry point for the stock. She said store growth, localization and cost efficiencies can support continued margin expansion over the next several years. The company has started to run more experiments with marketing to build stronger brand awareness and is testing new approaches across both advertising and merchandising, according to Goldman. Burlington has also taken steps to reduce its weather sensitivity, including strengthening its home products assortments.Read More
