Referencing European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s use of the term “associate member”, Jonathan Wilkinson says: “We’re not there.
“It’s an opportunity for us to talk about that, but we’re really much more focused on getting concrete results.”
During an interview with Canadian national broadcaster CBC News, he says the focus of discussions is “moving forward with some of the specific initiatives that we have proposed and they have proposed back to us”.
The initiatives which they “collectively agree on” will be announced at an EU-Canada summit in October, he adds.
