US President Donald Trump used his speech at theUnited Nations General Assembly to defend the US-Israeli war against Iran, arguing that Tehran had been stripped of much of its military power and influence in the Middle East.
Trump repeated his long-standing vow to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and claimed the conflict had devastated the country’s military capabilities and economy.
He also outlined two possible futures for US-Iran relations: a negotiated agreement or further military action.
“Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations? But I believe we’ll make a deal right after the [midterm] election,” Trump said.
