BRIZON, France, July 19 : Two-time Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard, who was second overall behind Tadej Pogacar, abandoned the race on Sunday after suffering a crash during stage 15 that left his right arm in a sling.
Vingegaard and his Visma-Lease a Bike teammate Sepp Kuss went down in the crash along with Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates-XRG teammates Isaac del Toro and Brandon McNulty, with about 20km left in Sunday’s stage. Dane Vingegaard was visibly in pain before he was taken into an ambulance.
The other three were able to continue.
Four-time winner Pogacar was four minutes and 30 seconds ahead of Vingegaard in the general classification coming into the stage.
