McDonald’s is expected to report its second-quarter earnings before the bell on Tuesday.
Here’s what Wall Street analysts surveyed by LSEG are anticipating the company to post:
- Earnings per share: $3.32 expected
- Revenue: $7.13 billion expected
The fast-food giant is often viewed as a consumer bellwether, helping investors gauge overall sentiment and spending. In early May, executives said on the company’s first-quarter earnings conference call that the “challenging environment” was not improving. Gas prices hit a four-year high at the end of May, putting even more pressure on low-income consumers’ budgets.
Wall Street is projecting that McDonald’s will report same-store sales growth of 1.3%. The company was anticipating weaker sales growth as it faces tough comparisons with the year-ago period, when it released a popular tie-in meal with the “Minecraft” movie.
McDonald’s stock has fallen more than 11% this year, dragging its market cap down to roughly $191 billion.
