The DR Congo has launched a clinical trial to test potential post-exposure treatments for Ebola‘s Bundibugyo strain, which still has no approved vaccine or specific treatment.
At Rwampara Treatment Centre, high-risk contacts, including a pregnant woman, are receiving either an antiviral drug or a placebo through a randomized study.
Participants are monitored for 42 days, while separate trials are testing remdesivir and the antibody treatment MBP134.
Health officials are urging exposed people to come forward and take part in the research.
