The announced ban on trade with Israeli settlements marks a major shift in British foreign policy. By accusing Benjamin Netanyahu‘s government of enabling ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, Miliband has used some of the strongest language yet heard from a British foreign secretary on Israel.
At the same time, Miliband stressed his “unwavering” support for Israel’s security, arguing that support for Israel is not incompatible with backing a Palestinian state and a two-state solution.
