Cavan: Woman and child dies and in two-vehicle collision

Gardaí have appealed to any witnesses to come forward

A 10-year-old girl has died in hospital days after a road crash in the Republic of Ireland in which her mother was killed.

The collision between a car and a flatbed van happened after 16:30 local time on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock in County Cavan on Friday.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, died at the scene.

Gardaí (Irish police) have now confirmed the girl, who was a passenger in the car, died at Temple Street Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

They have renewed an appeal for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
