Getty ImagesNine people have been injured after a collision involving a vehicle that was heading in the wrong direction on the M50 in Dublin.
The incident happened southbound at Junction 12, Firhouse, at 05:30 local time on Sunday.
Eight male juveniles were in one vehicle, which was driving down the up ramp when it collided head-on with a car.
The eight youths have been taken to a number of different hospitals for treatment. One of them remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 20s, was also injured. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The section of the M50 from Junction 12 to Junction 11 southbound remains closed with local diversions in place, gardaí (Irish police) said.
A forensic collision examination is taking place.
Anyone with information or anyone travelling in the area between 05:00 and 05:30, or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or surrounding areas is asked to contact gardaí.
