France reports first Ebola case from Congo outbreak

France has confirmed its first Ebola case linked to the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In Congo, confirmed cases have surpassed 1,000, with more than 270 deaths reported.

In France, a doctor who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo has tested positive for Ebola, marking the European country’s first confirmed case linked to the outbreak.

On Wednesday, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a press conference that the risk of the virus spreading further was low.
